The Guardian Notification Preferences form is available in Family Access to guardians of 3rd through12th-grade students. If you have multiple students, you will need to submit this form for each of your students that you want to receive email notifications about grades for.

Quick Steps

1. In Family Access, click a Guardian Notification Preferences tile.
2. Choose your desired Email Delivery Frequency (Low/High Assignment Grade).
3. Select a percentage from the Notify When Grade Lower Than drop-down. 
4. Select a percentage from the Notify When Grade Higher Than drop-down.
5. Choose your desired Email Delivery Frequency (Missing Assignments).
6. Click Submit Form.

Detailed Instructions

The following steps will be completed in Skyward Qmlativ SIS. If you have access to more than one portal, you may need to click the down arrow next to the home icon and select Family Access from the drop-down menu.

1. Click the Guardian Notification Preferences tile under your student's name. 
   
   • If you have multiple students, this tile is not displayed in the top-most grouping of tiles. You will need to choose the Guardian Notification Preferences tile under any of your students' names.
2. Choose your desired Email Delivery Frequency (Low/High Assignment Grade) from the drop-down.
   • Never: will not email you regarding specific assignment grades. If this option is selected, skip to step 5.
   • Daily: will email you within 24 hours
   • Weekly: will email you on Saturdays
   • Monthly: will email you on the first of every month
3. Select a percentage from the Notify When Grade Lower Than drop-down. 
   • You will receive an email if an assignment's grade is lower than the percentage selected.
4. Select a percentage from the Notify When Grade Higher Than drop-down.
   • You will receive an email if an assignment's grade is higher than the percentage selected.
5. Choose your desired Email Delivery Frequency (Missing Assignments) from the drop-down.
   • Never: will not email you regarding missing assignments
   • Daily: will email you within 24 hours
   • Weekly: will email you on Saturdays
   • Monthly: will email you on the first of every month
6. Click the green Submit Form button at the top of the form.
   

If you have multiple students in the district, please submit this form for each of your students that you want to receive email notifications about grades for.

2. Click Settings.
3. Verify the Guardian Messages tab is selected.
4. Check or uncheck the boxes for each notification type.
5. Save your changes.

Detailed Instructions

The following steps will be completed in Skyward Qmlativ SIS. If you have access to more than one portal, you may need to click the down arrow next to the home icon and select Family Access from the drop-down menu.

1. Click the My Messages button in the navigation bar.
   • You see the Inbox tab of the My Messages screen, which displays existing messages you have received.
     
2. Click Settings near the top right of the Inbox area. You will see the User Message Settings screen. The tab you see depends on the tabs you have security access to.
   
3. Verify the Guardian Messages tab in the left-hand menu is selected. 
4. To receive emails and mobile application notifications for messages, check the appropriate boxes in the areas listed below.
   • Receive by Email: indicates that you want to receive emails about this topic. These notifications will also be delivered as a message to view in My Messages. 
   • Receive by Mobile App: indicates that you want to receive push notification through the Skyward mobile application about this topic
   • If there are additional settings, you can select the cog icon in the Additional Settings column to configure them.
     
     

     Note

     Communications regarding discipline in LISD will be personally sent by campus administration. The selections for Discipline will not affect that process.

      
5. Choose one of the following options near the top left of the screen to save your work.
   • Save & Back: saves your message center settings and you return to the tab you were previously on
   • Save Changes: saves your message center settings and you remain on the Guardian Messages tab of the User Message Settings screen
